Company Update – 14 July 2020

Following the recent government announcement that gyms and leisure centres are able to reopen we are pleased to confirm that we will be implementing a phased approach with some of our centres reopening from 25th July.

We would like to thank all our customers for their continued support during this time. We have been working hard during this closure period to implement a plan of how you can get back to enjoying your favourite activity.

Leisure Centres

We’ve all had to adjust to a different way of living and a visit to your local leisure centre will also change. Whilst we have been closed the team have been hard at work to create a safe environment for you. We’ve listed to your feedback and we know how important cleanliness, social distancing measures and the support of our team is to our customers.

Therefore we wanted to share with you the measures we have implemented to help you.

We would ask you to help us, by keeping to these measures to ensure that we can keep everyone safe and you can enjoy your chosen activity. We are all in this together.

If you are feeling at all unwell, or showing any symptoms of Covid-19 please do not come to the centre. Please review our Health Commitment Statement before your first visit.

As you can see, although we will be re-opening our doors, there will be changes to what we offer and we will be listening to government advice as this develops. In summary;

  • We have a continuous cleaning regime across the centre, through the day.
  • A one-way path and queueing systems will be in place around the centre.
  • Activities where possible should be pre-booked and paid for via contactless or cashless payments. Booking for activities will be available online seven days in advance. 
  • In the gym equipment may be removed or temporarily unavailable to allow everyone to work-out safely.
  • Class timetables may change to ensure that customers can exit and enter safely and the areas to be cleaned or wiped down.
  • Swimming pool timetable will be regularly reviewed with session times and gaps to allow for cleaning.
  • Some facilities will be limited or unavailable initially.
  • Please ensure you adhere to social distancing throughout your visit and are considerate to other users.

The following centres are now open, with limited activities, further information on what will be available at the centres can be found on their website.

Other centres will remain closed for the time being.

Your fitness, swim or spa membership
Those paying for a fitness, swim or spa membership on a monthly direct debit will not have had payments taken during the closure, we will be reinstating direct debit payments from August. If you kindly supported us during the closure by continuing to pay for your membership you will revert to a freeze status upon re-opening. If you pay for your fitness, swim or spa membership annually, we will be extending your membership for the period of time we were closed.

We will be contacting members directly via email with further details of your individual membership status.

Leisure and Concession card holders
We will be extending our Leisure Card and Concession card holders will also have their cards extended for the period of time we were closed.

Swimming lessons
Swimming lessons have now resumed. Our swimming teachers are working hard to ensure we have everything in place for your lessons. Unless a member of our swimming team contacts you to advise of any changes, your lesson will remain on the same day of the week at the same time slot as you had back in March.

There may be some changes to the programme which will require some changes to the day or time of your lesson. If this is necessary the swim team will be in contact with you. Unless a member of our swimming team contacts you to advise of any changes, your lesson will remain on the same day of the week at the same time slot as you had back in March.

What to expect when you attend your swimming lesson

  • Only one adult should accompany a child to the swimming lesson to limit the number of spectators in the centre
  • Swimmers should come to the pool ‘beach ready’ with swim wear worn under clothing.
  • Teachers will not be able to help with hats and goggles please ensure your child has these items on ready to commence the lesson.
  • Follow the centres one-way system. There will be directional arrows on the floor to guide you around the centre.
  • There may be restricted/no access to the changing rooms prior to the lesson.
  • Swimmers are encouraged to shower at home prior to and after their lesson to minimise the amount of time spent in the changing rooms.
  • Swimmers should bring their own equipment to the lesson where possible (please ensure it is clearly named)
  • All Swimming Teachers will deliver their lessons from the poolside. Additional buoyancy aids will be used to ensure your child’s safety

Those customers paying for swimming lessons in ten-week blocks will have their remaining credits extended once we open. We will be contacting members directly with further information relating to swimming lessons.

Theatres

At the moment we have to continue to temporarily suspend all performances and events at Wyllyotts Theatre and 96 Shenley Road. The box offices remain closed.

Please note that access the Town Library within 96 Shenley Road is available for a Ready Reads service only. Further information available here

We appreciate that this continued closure will cause disappointment and disruption to all our customers and we apologise for any inconvenience caused. Whilst we are closed, you don’t have to miss out on art or culture, there are still a few ways you can take in a show, from the comfort of your sofa. Read our article here

We are working hard to reschedule performances where possible and all new dates will be available on our websites and updates on our social media channels. In some cases where we are unable to reschedule a show or performance, we will be applying a credit to your account.

We are looking forward to welcoming you back to the theatres as soon as possible with an exciting programme of new performances and events. You can still visit our website to book tickets for future performances.
