After an uncertain few months for lots of businesses in recent months 96 Shenley Road, the community hub in the heart of Borehamwood along with Hertsmere’s events facilitator Park Events have some exciting news.

We are please do announce that follow a successful submission to Visit England, both 96 Shenley Road and Park Events have been awarded the ‘We’re Good to Go’ award. This award recognises facilities that meet the industry standard for Covid secure measures. This award gives customers assurance that we adhere to the latest government and public health advice.

The team at 96 Shenley Road have been working hard since shutting their doors in March. A gradual reopen plan began in July, with the opening of the building to allow access to the library for the local community.
To ensure the safety of all visitors, a number of measures were implemented including a one way throughout the building with different entrance and exit points. Screens in the main entrance to protect staff and customers. The existing café seating area was reconfigured to provide additional space for walkways and hand sanitiser stations were positioned in key locations around the building. The team worked hard to ensure that the building was covid secure and was approved by Hertfordshire County Council.

The reopening continued in August, where the team were able to welcome back the YC Hertfordshire Access point service and allow for local businesses to hold social distanced meetings in the spacious halls. Throughout September the library expanded their services and YC Hertfordshire introduced their evening project work. 96 Shenley Road were also delighted to welcome back a number of regular hirers, with the Healthy Hub also returning a few weeks later. All these activities help to provide a much needed hub for the local community.
Having been awarded the ‘We’re Good to Go’ award planning is now in place to relaunch and host the first social distanced show ‘Captain Calamity’s Spooky Spectacular taking place on Sunday 1st November.

Future plans for the community hub is to bring back the local museum and further activities as soon as guidance allows in a safe and secure way. 96 Shenley Road is renowned for the regular shows such as the Borehamwood Comedy Club and Ignite Wrestling and work is taking place behind the scenes to safely bring back these popular shows where possible.
