Activity descriptions:
Art
A social art group, led by a volunteer tutor. Watercolours are predominantly used. Customers work on their own projects and have the advantage of calling on the art tutor for individual tuition if required. This is an extremely popular group, so please call the Fifty Plus team before attending.

Badminton
Come and play badminton. Come alone or bring a friend or partner. Equipment is provided.
Bowls: Indoor
We have 50 mats in all the halls. In all cases please wear flat soled shoes. Woods are available for use at our groups free of charge. A maximum of 8 people per rink.

Our social group is intended for those who have a basic knowledge of rubber bridge. Cards, tables and score sheets are provided

Chair Based Exercises
This is a gentle chair based exercise to enhance mobility and strength. It will complement any previous physiotherapy and is suitable for those who struggle with other exercise classes.
Falls Prevention (Beginners Postural Stability Classes)
Fifteen-week course to help strengthen muscles, improve posture and so prevent falls. An assessment is needed before attending so please call us on 01707 645005. Community transport may also be available.
Falls Prevention (Advanced Postural Stability Classes)
(You have to complete the 15-week course to be able to attend this advanced class)
Keep Fit
All classes deliver a gentle exercise suited to all abilities. All you need is comfortable clothing.
Line Dancing
No partner needed. This class caters for all abilities.
Musical Keyboard
Tutored classes for beginners and intermediates. The beginners’ class is for those that would like to learn programmed rhythms. You require your own keyboard for all classes. You will also require a pen and pencil, headphones and the Kenneth Baker Book 1 – The Keyboard Player. Please call for more information and to check availability.
Pilates
Ability led Pilates catering for all abilities enabling those who are unable to do floor work to still participate working from chairs.
Scrabble
Ideal for those who wish to play in a relaxed environment. All equipment is provided. No partner required.
Table Tennis
This is very popular and ideal for the more active customer. Playing for fun, this activity is suitable for all levels of expertise! Equipment is provided. Please wear appropriate footwear with grip on the soles
Tai Chi
An ancient form of Chinese exercise which encourages and improves fitness, balance and posture. All movements are in the standing position. The class consists of Yang Style 24 Form. Wear loose comfortable clothing. Sessions are suitable for beginners and improvers.
Tap Dancing (Intermediates)
All you need are your tap shoes. Suitable for those who have some experience.
Tap Dancing (Beginners)
All you need are your tap shoes. Suitable for complete beginners and improvers.
Yoga
Hatha Yoga is the balancing of mind, body and breath – it brings about a peaceful mind, strong and supple body and awareness of breathing. Designed to release tension, it leaves you tranquil and revitalised. Classes will include relaxation, breathing exercises, meditation and very gentle postures. Please bring a blanket or non-slip mat and avoid eating a heavy meal before the session.
Zumba Gold
Aimed at active older adults (or those new to fitness) with the same music and dance styles as Zumba but with a lower intensity.
