Promoting Talent

From a young age I always had a keen interest in sports and fitness, I enrolled on a university course, studying Sport and Exercise Science at the University of Hertfordshire. After three years of studying I came away with a degree in Sport and Exercise science.

I began my career in leisure, working at various leisure centres and private health clubs, including my local leisure centre The Venue in Borehamwood. This was my first experience of working for InspireAll, working as a casual receptionist. Many years later after working for a private health club, I saw an advert for a Duty Manager post at Bushey Grove Leisure Centre, which I applied for and was successful, so began working for InspireAll again in August 2013. In my role as Duty Manager, I was responsible for children’s activities including; parties, gymnastics, tennis, trampolining and holiday club. This was something I relished, looking after various departments and being responsible for the income of these activities in which the General Manager relied on. I had a number of great successes in this role including increasing the capacity of the dryside activities from 80-90%, so when the position of Sales and Fitness manager was advertised I applied for the role. Having been Duty manager for 18 months, I felt it was the right time to progress my career and was successful. In this new role, I was one of two department managers responsible for overseeing sales, fitness and reception departments.

In my role as Sales and Fitness manager, I had a lot of support from my manager, which I find to be one of the great things about working for InspireAll, the progression through the company and the way managers at all levels support this process. This role was a new challenge for me, I was entrusted to manage the biggest income line for the site and liaised directly with the general manager to ensure targets were met. Just eight months into this role and a lot of hard work, I was given the opportunity to take the role of Business Manager for Bushey Grove Leisure Centre.  Both my Regional Manager and Chief Executive showed a lot of faith in me after only a short period of time as a department manager and I have now been the Business Manager for nearly three years. Currently, my role involves overseeing one of the biggest developments Bushey Grove has ever been through, I am still thriving and continuing to grow Bushey Grove.

I will have been working for InsprieAll for 6 years in August; I still enjoy coming to work every day and more than anything I enjoy the team I work with every day. InspireAll staff all work hard to make sure facilities are provided for customers; but the support, training, time and opportunities given by the company is what people should look forward to working with us for.
